Belmont Festival
Sunday 3rd July 2022
from 12 noon to 5pm

****** FREE ENTRY ******

The Belmont Festival is back for 2022!

Why are we running the Festival?
The last two years have been pretty dreadful for everyone and there has been so much excitement about running the Festival again.  It is hoped that this great community event will be a tonic to lift people's spirits.  What's even better is that entry is FREE.

The event will attract residents from all over the south of the London Borough of Sutton.

The Festival is run totally by volunteers and all profits will be donated to our main charity, the Royal Marsden Cancer Care Charity.   As well as providing families with a great time, the Festival also supports over other 10 charities who will each benefit from the event.

In addition, the event also makes a priority of supporting local businesses and many of the local Belmont shops will be open to showcase their wares and promote the Village as a vibrant local shopping centre.

The Belmont Festival is supported by the local community and traders, run by volunteers to raise money for local charities and is free for everyone to come and have fun.

It is a truly Win Win Win event!

So what is the Festival?
The Festival takes place in the Belmont Village local centre on Sunday 3rd July, 2022.

There will be around 100 market and fun stalls, traditional fairground rides, bouncy castle, slide, live music, Punch & Judy shows, clown shows and much, much more.

This year we are launching our “FoodFest” which features a variety of food outlets where you can buy your lunch, a snack, a sweet dessert or enjoy tea and home-made cakes!!

Come for Lunch and Stay for Fun!

The Festival is a wonderful day out with something for the whole family!

When does it start?
The Festival is open from 12 noon to 5pm.  The formal opening starts at 12.15.

The rousing Gary Mason drummers will lead the opening parade followed by the Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Trish Fivey, and the wonderfully colourful Shimmy Sisters.  They will process through the Festival area to the main stage.

Whats On?
Live entertainment takes place in four separate places around the Festival area:

On the Main Stage we have a spectacular line-up of live entertainment compered throughout the day by Radio Marsden.  The live acts featured on stage include choirs and bands from several of our local schools.

In the
Park, you can relax (bring a rug), enjoy a drink from the Beer Tent and soak up the atmosphere while listening to live Big Band music from the Norwood Wind Ensemble.

Alternatively, you can chill out in the Church's Tea Room and enjoy delicious, fresh, home baked cakes with a cuppa, while being entertained by talented local musicians who will be playing gentle relaxing music for your enjoyment.

Especially for the children, we have the Kiddies Arena where there will be Punch & Judy Shows and Clown Entertainment throughout the afternoon.  All guaranteed to bring smiles to their faces.

Market Stalls – The road through the centre of Belmont village will feature a stupendous Street Market where shopaholics can delight in browsing the many market stalls offering a wide variety of products for all ages at affordable prices.

Fun Stalls and rides In the Park, there are numerous Fun Stalls where revellers of all ages can try their hand to win a prize.  There are also several Pocket-Money Stalls around the event where younger guests can choose a favoured toy!

Or why not enjoy the traditional fairground rides, sliding down the Mega Slide or bouncing on the Castle!!

The ever popular plate smashing stall returns offering endless therapeutic satisfaction.  We also have a Fire Engine and a spectacular 15 ton Army Survey vehicle for children (and Dads) to crawl over.  Sorry we can’t tell you any more because its Top Secret!

Can I get something to eat and drink?

This year we are featuring our FoodFest with a wide selection of Food Stalls.

DO NOT EAT BEFORE YOU COME!

Whether you’re a fan of sweet or savoury, we’ve got all sorts of tasty treats on offer to tempt your taste buds!

These will include Speciality German Sausages, a Gourmet Burger Grill, Kebabs and wraps, hot Pasties and Jacket Potatoes with a variety of tasty hot or cold fillings.  In addition our local fish and chip shop and Indian restaurants will be open.

If you want something sweet, we have delicious fresh doughnuts, candy floss and pop corn, and, of course Ice Cream vans to tempt you!!

Feeling thirsty?
Licensed Bars operate in the heart of the stalls and in the Beer Tent in the Park where you can drink while being serenaded by our resident live Big Band.  There are also stalls offering Slushies and fruit drinks.

Teas, coffees and home made cakes will be served throughout the day in the St John’s Church's Tea Room.

What are we collecting for?
In addition to providing a great day out, as in previous years and with your support, we are raising money to support the fantastic work of our local Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital and in particular their Oaks Centre for Children and Young People.

This year,  the Royal Marsden tells us that all of the profits donated from the Festival will be used to "fund the provision of effective play preparation which will enable children as young as four to complete planning procedures and up to 30 radiotherapy treatments without the need for the trauma and distress of a general anaesthetic. This means that the child is spared more invasive procedures and less time is spent in hospital for both the child and their family."

Although entry is free, if you enjoy yourself, please make a generous contribution in one of our collecting buckets for our charity The Oaks Centre for Children and Young People at the Royal Marsden Cancer Care Hospital!!

In addition to our main charity, we are also hosting a number of other Charity organisations many of whom will be running fun activities to collect for their own charities.  So with your support many deserving causes will benefit from the Festival.

Don’t miss this fantastic fun family event.  Please make a note in your diary now to come along!

See the Past Festivals page to remind you of the fun that we had at previous Belmont Festivals.
